Onion Focaccia







                                                                       Focaccia  is a flat oven-baked Italian bread product similar in style and texture to pizza doughs. Focaccia is typical of Liguria, but is popular throughout Italy and is usually seasoned just with olive oil and salt. It might also be flavored with a number of herbs, vegetables, and/or Cheese. 

◆  INGREDIENTS


  • Sliced onion - 3no.
  • Olive oil - 5tbsp
  • Garlic - 2cloves 
  • Salt - 1tbsp
  • Yeast - 1tbsp
  • Milk - 1cup
  • Sugar - 1tsp
  • Flour - 6cup

METHOD 



  1. Slice onion , In a large frying pan over medium heat add 3tbsp olive oil , add sliced onion , garlic & 1/2tsp salt , cook stirring until onions are soft about 3min , set aside.
  2. Meanwhile in a bowl dissolve yeast in a 1cup of water , let sit until foamy about 5min.
  3. In a mixer on low , add milk , 1tbsp salt , sugar , yeast mixture . Work in flour 1cup at a time , until you have a smooth & elastic dough about 3min.
  4. Transfer the dough oiled bowl , cover with clean towel until double in size , punch down dough again transfer it to baking sheet , use your hand to spread and gently push it into an even layer , cover again for proving.
  5. Meanwhile sprinkle the onion , salt & olive oil and bake for 30-35min.
  6. Serve warm or at room temperature.
